Sharukh Khan

-- Featured Comments -- Sharukh Khan: The operative and important word was "muslim". Obviously I did not include Palestinian christians. If Muslims kick out Jews, why can muslims not be kicked out (though, in Palestine, muslims left on their own under the pressure of war and were not allowed back; an important distinction). Jews from Yemen are not moving because of war, but because of threats by muslims to make them muslims leading to murder of Jews. With due respects to your comment, I submit Read more [...]

Easy Fly

-- Featured Comments -- The real answer to the question is alarmingly simple: If you don't want to go, don't go. In the '70s and '80s, there were numerous concerts I went to and walked away stunned and disillusioned by what I saw. Ramblin' Jack Elliott so drunk that he played 4 songs in 90 minutes, Van Morrison (albeit in a very small club and charging almost nothing) singing the first verse to each song and then wandering offstage to smoke a cigarette while one of the backround singers finished Read more [...]

General Custer

-- Featured Comments -- I would respectfully submit that being out for blood is a good part of the reason why we're stuck in this morass. Very few politicians are out for a solution that doesn't involve spilling someone else's blood. For most, it's all about getting re-elected in 2012. Not so much in the case of those involved in or with an affinity for the tea party. It is hard not to admire this group for placing principle ahead of re-election calculations. They are strong and fearless leaders. Read more [...]

Low Jack

-- Featured Comments -- The Journal's hard data stories are still quite good. But so what? So are Bloomberg and NYT stories, as well as the Economist and a score of other outlets' stories. You have lost the trust of a very large chunk of your readership, and especially of your potential readership. When we can no longer trust your editorial board, you have lost us politically. Now your mothership is being shown to be tainted and corrupt back at its home base. Bribery? Resignations of the top men Read more [...]

Overpopulation Problems

-- Featured Comments -- Too easy. They have overpopulation problems and are a poor region to begin with, and I can easily point to Germany, France, Canada, Norway, Switzerland, England, and other modern countries with very little population concerns that spend a third what the U.S. does on health care but still maintain equivalent or superior services to the U.S., and with full coverage...and Obamacare hasn't cut in fully yet, and won't until 2014. But thanks for playing...You didn't address the Read more [...]

Two Thumbs Up

-- Featured Comments -- Very well said Elton. I have my two thumbs up for your clarity and relevance in conveying the idea. However, it needs at least a normal intelligence to discern what you wrote and I doubt that you will have enough western audiences. And Elton, may I have your permission to quote all or part of what you have written so beautifully in future?Niall Ferguson, the Harvard financial historian who argues for austerity, pointed out that the economy only grew 1% annually from 2001-2008, Read more [...]

British Tabloids

-- Featured Comments -- Rian Davis, What you wrote is an absolute fabrication. You have never been the places you are talking about and it is quite obvious from details in your ramblings. Let's get it on! You are possibly just a screaming liberal who read some of this cr*p in the British tabloids or perhaps you are worse. Either way, get lost. I'm reporting you. I see in your bio that you are in Seoul. My son is there teaching English and Martial Arts. Could I please get you two guys together?? Read more [...]

Eu Member States

-- Featured Comments -- The French developed their own nukes in the 1950s without help from the U.S. You're correct that the U.S. sold nukes to the U.K. Conflict in the Balkans wasn't a threat to core EU member states. Bosnia was neither part of the EU, nor part of Nato. It was a moral issue, not a military or economic threat. When the U.S. went in and accidentally bombed the Chinese embassy, it single handedly almost turned a minor local conflict into a global nuclear war.No conundrum, Lauren. Read more [...]

Steamboat Springs Co

-- Featured Comments -- More and more insurance is being sold from Bermuda. Even Lloyds of London offers health insurance. The state regulators are not effective. An example of this is TIG Insurance. It is listed in Colorado and other states as being active and selling health insurance. Yet if you call the phone number you will find that it is a residential cell phone number and the person who answers will tell you that they have been out of business since 2002. He could just as easily have offered Read more [...]
