Views On “William McGurn: Mike Bloomberg and the End of Tolerance”
You have it backwards. We will not survive as a species unless we learn to outgrow our pathetic need for the SuperDaddy, the Cosmic Santa for Grownups, who will love us, punish us, and tell us over and over that we really won't die.
We invented him out of fear and ignorance, and deep fear inside we know that. But we can't be strong enough to get by without those lies we tell ourselves, can we? And we are ready and even eager to kill for them, aren't we?
The rest of us are sick of your Inquisitions, Read more [...]
A Response To “Restaurant Groups Sue Labor Department Over Tip Credits”
I'm a resturant owner in California and I work in the kitchen. My wift works in the kitchen. the majority of our workers are african-american high schoolers or early college year students. Everyone starts at minimum wage, $8.00 an hour in CA, and they keep their tips on top of that. We are usually their first job. We teach them customer service, how to clean, how to be on time, how to fill out a schedule, how to manage others, how to train others, how to work as a team, how to count change, importance Read more [...]
My Take On “Unready Shovels II”
By their very nature, all construction infrastructure jobs are temporary. The actual completed projects may or may not lead to permanent job creation. If Obama believes repairing deteroriating roads and bridges creates anything other that temporary jobs, I would truly be surprised. However, as I suspect, Obama views intrastructure construction jobs a a good pay back to his union backers and a means of keeping the unionss behind his re-election eflooking for jobsts. What would be miraculous is if Read more [...]
An Opinion On “Losing a Parent Comes With Tasks”
Very i have no friendsnformative article, but one cant help but think that some of these adults have the mindset of children. This is a part of life. You sort of get the impression that this really should be somebody other than their own responsibility. Just as how babies come with diapers the dead come with other responsibilities if these folk never realized that they are.......... With that said all those family members and friends who have some experience with dealing with these situations should Read more [...]
Analysis On “China’s One”
>>Why on earth would China women allow their men how to approach a girl benefit solely from the one-child policy
I don't know...BUT....I have seen many women in Shandong who are vehement in enforcing the One Child Policy. I do think the One Child Policy depends upon the support of women to remain in effect.
Clearly a small minority of women become divorced mothers of daughters...and in this situation, I believe it is the little girl who suffers most.
>>Doesn't a divorce on grounds that this come Read more [...]
Criticism On “AT&T Fires Back at DOJ”
If AT&T is successful at buying T-Mobile, T-Mobile subscribers can kiss Pay-as-You-Go goodbye. AT&T has show to get a guy to kiss youn zero love for that idea and wants everyone chained to a $35-$40 monthly contract, at the minimum.
Oh sure, AT&T will make all the right noises about keeping this and keeping that and supporting this and supporting that, but don't be fooled; those guys are sharks.
AT&T--formerly SBC--has killed any low-cost anything when they've taken over Pacific Bell, Cingular, the Read more [...]
My Analysis On “U.S. Families Slice Debt to Lowest In 6 Years”
Mr. Applebaum - Sorry but your logic is deeply flawed. Debt default on student loans is at best a zero sum game, lenders lose money, and the borrower walks. Default doesn't create wealth and probably destroys it as lenders are less willing to lend and the borrowers who made a faulty educational decision wasted valuable resources by not utilizing their education. It is very presumptious of you to assume that the defaulter will create more wealth by having his loan forgiving others than the lost income Read more [...]
Analysis On “Obama Warns of Default Risk”
Obama IS out of balance, a word he used seven times last night, yet has no concept of its meaning! Boehner and Reid are not that far apart, while OBama is way to the left of Reid. This would be hilarious to watch if the state of our economy weren't so dire, due to profligate spending by the Dems over the last 4 years and heightened spending courtesy of Obama over the last two years (two failed stimuli, cash for clunkers, first time home buyer tax credit 2012 time home buyer credit, and OMG, OBamacare). Views On “Texas Wages War on Feral Hogs With the Latest in Weaponry”
David, although I am not a supporter of job hunting tips, I can see the need for carefully-managed culls. But to the extent there is hunting, I think there are different levels of hunting. My concern here is that the participants--according to the article at least--seem to be signing up to play army and enjoy killing.
I have more respect for a hunter who knows his weapon, respects the animal, and hits cleanly and kills cleanly. When I see guys carrying military assault rifles, I start to wonder if Read more [...]
Criticism On “As Rivals Slip, Gingrich Finds Traction”
Gerald, from thi want a divorces and other posts that I have read of yours . . . you seem to be a very partisan guy . . . you really don't like conservatives much or maybe it is just that you wish to win 'at any cost or effort'. You comments about Gingrich are not entirely correct or true. Gingrich didn't tell his wife that he wanted a divorce while she was in the hospital for Cancer treatment. First off, 'she' asked for a divorce from him even before she was in the hospital. Secondly, the Cancer Read more [...]
